Rhode Frog: Marvel Girls

Today Marvel announced that, in March (Women's History Month. Who needs Christmas, am I right, gals?), they will release the first of three comics anthologies by and for female comic fans.
Three anthologies of short comics. Written, drawn, and produced by women. For other women.
Whoopdishit.
This is just a token collection to keep girlies quiet while the rest of the deals keep going to the guys. Not that I expect anything better from the likes of Marvel.
Imagine, though - if these girls can write these stories, and draw them, all by their little selves, imagine what else they could do! Maybe the best of them could even have their own series! Like, on a regular basis. As often as the guys. And you could, like, just mix them in with the other comics. Wouldn't that rock?

Senator Al Franken has proposed a "Pay for War" resolution that would require Congress to raise taxes and/or cut spending before authorizing new acts of war, so that American foreign adventures can't contribute to the national debt.

In "The Long Road Home," historian Ben Shephard tells the neglected story of the refugee crisis the Allies faced when, at war's end, millions of displaced persons -- among them prisoners of war, slave laborers and survivors of concentration camps -- had to be repatriated to their homelands or resettled somewhere else.

Nobel-winning economist Joseph Stiglitz writes in this month's Vanity Fair about the corrosive, self-reinforcing wealth concentration that has hijacked American politics, in which the America's future is sacrificed to give ever more money to an ever-smaller group of oligarchs.
